Day 1

9:00 a.m. — Start Your Day With a Hearty Breakfast

Gear up for the day with a hearty breakfast at Evergreen Restaurant. Featuring a relaxing atmosphere with a scenic view of Shagawa Lake, Evergreen is the ideal spot to sip on a cup of coffee and prepare for the day ahead. We recommend trying the Wilderness Blueberry Pancakes or the Grand Stuffed Potatoes — yum!

11:00 a.m. — Explore the Wilderness on Foot

Retreat into the scenic wilderness of the beautiful Ely Forest. Trek along the Trezona trail, located right across the street from The Grand Ely Lodge. Connect with nature along four miles of scenic hiking and enjoy the beautiful lakeside views.

3:00 p.m. — Explore Downtown Ely

Walk along the streets of Downtown Ely and explore the shops and restaurants. Stop into neighborhood boutiques featuring unique, handcrafted unique gifts. After shopping, be sure to dine on some of the best cuisine in the community, especially Sir G's.

6:00 p.m. — Dine Downtown

Our favorite dining options are Insula Restaurant, which features new American dining while showcasing local products and exceptional service, and the Ely Steak House, which offers fine aged Angus steaks, prime rib, french onion soup, and more.

Day 2

10:00 a.m. — Cast Your Line in Shagawa Lake

Test your fishing skills off our Shagawa Lake dock, or rent a 16-foot fishing boat or a 20-foot pontoon for the day. Shagawa Lake is filled with an abundance of bass, walleye, pike, and other species of fish, making the Grand Ely Lodge an enticing fishing destination.

2:00 p.m. — Say Hi to a Wolf or Two

Head to the International Wolf Center to spend the afternoon learning about the canines of the wilderness. Get up close and personal while you learn about the conservation of the species in the surrounding areas.

6:00 p.m. — Enjoy the Sunset With a Cold Drink

End the day at Antlers Lounge enjoying a cold beverage while watching the sun dip below the horizon. Try a few local brews, including Iron Range Amber, James Page, and Nordeast. End the evening with a specialty sandwich, like the delicious Caesar Prime Rib, before retreating to your comfortable Grand Ely Hotel accommodations.

Day 3

10:00 a.m. — Grab Some Morning Coffee to Go

Head downtown to grab some freshly brewed coffee to go from Northern Grounds coffee shop. With a mission to share their passion for roasted coffee, the friendly baristas here serve up delicious cups made with love.

1:00 p.m. — Grab a Kayak and Explore the Lake

Grab a kayak or canoe from the Grand Ely Lodge and explore the blue waters of Shagawa Lake. Take in the peaceful views or trek around the lake to soak up the relaxing atmosphere and connect with your surroundings.

6:00 p.m. — Find Relaxation and Soothe Tired Muscles

Retreat to the indoor whirlpool and sauna to find tranquil peace after a long day of exploring, hiking, and fishing. Let the warm water and cleansing steam rejuvenate both mind and body.
