Cross Country Skiing

With an array of machine-groomed or user-tracked trails to choose from, Grand Ely Lodge gives easy access to the Trezona Trail, Hidden Valley Cross Country Ski Trails, and more. Take in the splendor of the Ely area with just a pair of skis and the sounds of nature around you.
One of the best ways to get around the backcountry of Ely in the winter is by snowshoe. Snowshoes can take you into places not easily accessed by ski or snowmobile, so bundle up, strap on a pair of complimentary from Grand Ely Lodge and explore the untouched areas of the Northwoods.
The fish bite all year long on Shagawa Lake, and the ice fishing is plentiful. Winter is the ideal time for trout fishing, which swim shallower during the colder months. Rent a heated ice fishing house from the Grand Ely Lodge for hours of fun angling on Shagawa Lake right in front of the Grand Ely Lodge.
